Eulogy for Johnny Cash

 Eulogy For Johnny Cash

Sleep now my honey by my side     D    Em

I hear that train too and it’s time to ride    A    D

Waiting in the morning for your eyes    D    Em

I been thinking of mortality by your side A   D

And it makes me wonder if love comes with us to the other side    D   G

I won’t lie     A

They say this morning the man in black has died   D   Em

Guess even great men meet with their time A   D

Well I’m feeling close to something deep in life   D      Em

So dance with me my rose my love tonight A        D

Singing softly:

Prison ain’t no kinda place for angels in despair     G D

They’re just a little rough sometimes when they’re down here    A D

And heaven opens up for them ‘cause heaven just don’t care    G     D

And the man in black don’t take no flack so heaven better just beware   A      D

Sleep now baby in my arms

Cause all that burns on earth don’t last for long

Close your eyes and sing me some sweet song

Sing for everything that’s right and wrong

Sing for a heart that loves you oh so strong

And will so long

And in the silence you can hear an angel band

And voice that rings out loudest is the man

And strumming on that six string cutting through the day

Listen as the backup starts to play

Singing:

Prison ain’t no place for angels in despair

They’re just a little rough sometimes when they’re down here

And heaven opens up for them ‘cause heaven just don’t care

And the man in black don’t take no flack so heaven better just beware

Stay awhile and sleep away the day

I don’t know where I’m bound so I’ll just stay

There’s a game that’s named for poets that I like to play

Sitting up till dawn writing in some hideaway

There’s a train in the distance bound to take me far away

And it will someday

Sleep now baby close your eyes

And think about tomorrows blue and bright

They say that flesh and blood make a worried man feel fine

So stay and listen to that whistle moan and whine

Singing:

Prison ain’t no kinda place for angels in despair

They’re just a little rough sometimes when they’re down here

So heaven opens up for him ‘cause any heaven couldn’t care

But the man in black don’t take no flack so heaven better just beware
